Biography

Bohdan Stupka was Ukraine's most celebrated actor, often referred to as 'the Ukrainian De Niro' for his extraordinary range and intensity. Over a career spanning more than four decades, he appeared in over 100 films and countless theatrical productions, commanding both the screen and stage with equal mastery. Stupka was a pillar of the Ivan Franko National Academic Drama Theater in Kyiv, where he served as artistic director. His most memorable film roles include the Cossack leader in 'With Fire and Sword' (1999) and the aging patriarch in 'A Prayer for Hetman Mazepa' (2001). He played a crucial role in the development and revival of Ukrainian cinema in the post-Soviet era.
