Pioneer of poetic cinema and one of the most important filmmakers in history

His 'Ukraine Trilogy' — Zvenigora (1928), Arsenal (1929), and Earth (1930) — established a distinctly Ukrainian cinematic language characterized by lyrical visual poetry, deep connection to the land, and innovative montage techniques that rivaled the work of Eisenstein and Vertov.
